For those of you that have been to DefensiveCarry since yesterday have probably already read that I sold the forum. The economy and the way things are going in this country had a huge influence on my decision to sell it. Getting many of our bills paid off was also a consideration. I will still be around over there for awhile but will probably be spending more time here catching up on some of the things I have been putting off.

Also for those members over there, the new owners seem like really good people that will ensure the forum continues on as it has. They are not planning any sweeping changes; at least changes that you will see. That forum was so big it was almost impossible to backup without spending some big bucks for backup tools. They have those tools. They also moved it to a new server which has drastically improved performance.

I appreciate the participation of each of you at both sites in the past and in the future.

I haven't been around either forum too much lately with tax season in full swing so this is new to me.

I hope this gives you some extra time for the family and getting caught up with things.

Yeah, that is exactly what I was thinking too. Hey, you've got to get that generator set up too !

It does give me more time with the family, has allowed us to pay off my truck, boat and pay off a lot of our bills. We put another chunk aside for some remaining things we want to get done around here, including additional preparations. The generator wiring is on that list, too.... :yup:

Wow.

I had no idea, Bumper.

In any event, I'm glad it's put you in better financial shape to get the important things done.

Bumper, Sorry to hear that you are leaving DefensiveCarry. You always managed to keep it a decent place to visit, and I always felt comfortable over there knowing that you were keeping an eye on things. However, I am glad that you are now in better financial shape and more importantly you are now able to spend more time with the family. Good luck and may you and your family be forever blessed.

Thanks, Gimpy, I'll still be there, just not as much. And, I really believe that the new owners will carry on with the way it has always been run. I very much appreciate your comments.

While, contractually, I am not able to tell you how much I received in the sale, I was very pleased with the deal. It was really more than I expected a forum to be worth....

Glad you were able to do well on it. Seems like you've spent so much of your time and effort on DC that whatever you got out of it in the end was worth it. Hopefully enough of the original admins will be able to keep things in check and keep it going in the right direction.

Wow, didn't see that coming, but you're right, DC is HUGE anymore! Probably one of the biggest forums I've ever seen. At least you'll still be around and again, still be here on this one. That's cool.

Good for you! I'm glad it was a surprise in the good for both you and your family. I still pop in at DC and most likely will for a while. The policy against non gun related political discussions was a bummer, but I'm glad I ran across your thread over there with directions to your new forum here; well new to me that is. It looks like you've had it up for a while from some of the dates I've seen on threads and post.

Anyway, congrats on the "Quality time and financial freedom" the sale provided, enjoy it, I'm sure you deserve it.

Bumper,

Congratulations on selling Defensive Carry.

Being that the site has grown so big it has lost it's hominess feeling and I resigned my membership there tonight.

I read your PM, Biker and was sorry to see you go. I wish it could have been worked out first before you left....
