If and when the time comes, a tent inside your house might be a god send. I tried it out one year during winter. Put the thermostat way down (but well above freezing, concerned about pipes, etc). Was not a perfect test, but inside a tent was warmer.

I have a few more thoughts on the various advantages, but in a true SHTF situation, camping in the house might not be that bad of an idea.

Women are not reliable heat generators. Often times they are always freezing cold so in the bedroom they sap all of their partners heat. A tent would be a much more reliable way to stay warm than a woman. Do not trade the woman for a tent though, they do have their uses. :rofl:

A tall blonde Marine? That way you would not only have heat, but an expert marksman to help defend your supplies and to watch your back. Of course you may need to wake up at 0500 every morning for a 'short jog'. Crazy Marines... always wanna go running at ungodly hours.

FYI, I was reading some survivalist material. They mentioned sleeping in a SUV, in a garage, might be one of the best SHTF shelters.
