Yes, if things get bad enough, it will happen. Why I also smirk when people online make statement on how they will protect their supplies is such and such happens.

In a SHTF situation, you will most likely only be able to protect so much until a greater power will be happy to make an example of you.

Can it happen again, absolutely. All that would have to take place is a natural dissaster or a war of proportions that caused rationing like we saw at the early part of the last century. Those who think it can't happen again, or say that history can't repeat itself are dilusional.
