I guess I'm really a dick... first HuffPo gives me the heave-ho (http://www.conservativestronghold.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1238), and then today, while waiting on a phone call, I decided to sign up at DU and hopefully find a spirited discussion. I made 2 (count 'em, TWO) posts in less than 4 minutes before I got Modsmacked...

My first post was on the topic of Cap and Trade... someone said words to the effect of "well, at least we will get a little action on Climate Change thru Cap and Trade soon..."... I asked if they really thought that was possible, given the email scandal, "hide the decline", melting Himalayan glaciers, papers based on anecdotal accounts from students and climbers, not to mention probable Democrat losses in November... I said that I doubted most Americans would get behind it if it raised energy prices in a foundering economy.

This provoked a flurry of hostile responses, calling me a "denier", an "idiot", a "typical Rethug", and a "FOX viewer"...

Then I said, "The difference between "warmers" and "birthers"...? Birthers have superior science..."

Tried to make it a point that we should have Obamer show his birth certificate to relieve the concerns of the"right wing conservatives" and possibly any democrats that had doubts of his nationality because some valid points were being raised.

You are correct, any dissent whatsoever and you get spanked. :spankme:

I think if you go and keep posting a FACT once in awhile, you may get one or two liberals to start thinking and contemplating the issues which may win them over to the conservative side.

Yes, it does take work and effort to get them to THINK and CONTEMPLATE, but if you can get them to do it, they will drop the "feels good" mentality and you will eventually get them to agree with you.

I find it odd... if a raving liberal with a little intellect turned up here, I don't think Bumper would just ban him for heresy against conservatism... sure, if he just posted things like "REPUBLIKKKANS SUCK!!!", that would get tedious after a couple of days. But if they came here and gave thoughtful arguments for their positions, I think most people here would actually enjoy it. Even a well-spoken, unabashed communist would be tolerated here, albeit in a constant gale-force shitrain for their positions... but I don't think most people here would be personally insulting. At odds with his views, yes... but not personally hostile...

And as long as they were intellectually honest and not just trolling for a fight, I can't imagine that Bumper would nuke them after 2 posts.

Am I wrong on that...? I thought conservatives were the intolerant people...
