This forum is in response to another forum I own and run, DefensiveCarry.com, a forum related to legally permitted concealed carry. We have had a hard time keeping politics off that site, which has a history of civility rather than the usual fighting and flaming that goes on in the typical forum.

It may be late in the election game to be starting a heavily political forum, but people seem to want a place to post politically motivated threads. I have to admit I am one of you and at times it has been extremely hard to remove some of the political threads on that site. Much of it is information that people need to know. If this forum catches on, it will remain and grow. If it is a flop, you may cruise by some day and find it closed. It is up to our members and we have damned few of them right now.

For those that come over from DefensiveCarry, my intent is to run this forum much the same as DC, but with a little more tolerance on language. I say a little more because while we will let more language slip by, we will remove anything that is especially crude. It may take some time for everyone, including myself, where the line should be drawn, but I don't believe that a forum dedicated to politics and social issue can run freely without relaxing the rules we have become accustomed to a bit. I would, though, be interested in hearing your opinions on it as we pick up members and topics.

As always, I appreciate you joining us and the time you spend with us here and I sincerely hope you enjoy this forum.

Bumper,

Thank you for posting the United States Constitution. Many profess to know their rights yet never have taken the time to read the Constitution.

Great name for the site!

Thanks, sarlady, I thought some might find it convenient to refer to in our discussions here and, hopefully, those that haven't taken the time to read it completely, will.

I hope this relieves some of the thread issues over at DC. The mods deserve a break. Thanks for thinking of the people and their need to convey the issues and openly discuss them. It may simply make sense to open another forum site, but I think you're outstanding for doing so.

Here's a question, on DC, when you click a link in someone's post, it automatically opens it in a new tab, leaving DC open. When I (and maybe it's just my settings) click a link here on CS, it navigates me away from the forums. It's a minor thing, i know, and may not be fixable, but a thing nonetheless.

I think they do, too. The load has become very heavy over the last few weeks. I started to do this several weeks ago, but had to sit on the fence thinking about it for awhile. I don't like to jump into something like this unless I am committed to it.

I the the vBulletin software is set up the way it should be. This software is new to me and still a bit quirky. It will take me a little while to figure out how to make the nagging changes that we may experience on this forum. If the forum is a success, I will transition it to vBulletin with exactly the features that DC has. If McCain gets elected I expect that interest in this site will wane. If Obama gets elected, it will probably go take off. Honestly, I hope we don't need it. But if we do, it's here..... ;)
